August Favourites 2012!
Hey ladies! (and guys?)
I've put together my favourites for this month already, I'm heading out to California in a couple of days, and thought I'd throw this on my blog before I forget!
I've really been focusing on my makeup collection this month, purchasing a lot of new things, while also trying to use up what I've got. I'd love to put up another haul post with my new things for the month when I've got a moment as well. Let's get started with all my favourites in beauty, gaming, tv, and music!
Beauty
Clean and Clear Essentials Deep Cleaning Toner
I've actually got a cute story to go with this one-real quick! I used this a little while back, and since using up my Clinique toner, I went back to it because of a deal I saw in store. Target has banned plastic bags where I live, and not wanting to pay for a paper one, Clean and Clear had a deal that if I bought two products, I'd get a reusable bag free. So this is the toner I went with. It's lovely. Cooling and cleansing and the smell doesn't bother me one bit. If I get it close to my eye, it doesn't sting and the way it just glides across my skin is fantastic. Definitely recomended.
True Blue Spa Super Rich Foot Cream
I've used this almost everyday this past month! I'm not normally one for specific foot creams, but this one caught my eye in a Bath and Body Works sale. The smell isn't the prettiest, but considering this goes on my feet, I'm not too bothered by it. Kind of like a cross between pine needles and fresh cut grass. After being on my feet for eight hours, coming home, showering, and putting this on my feet and then covering them with some old socks is so relaxing. I wake up to smooth heels and toes, ready for my flip flops or work shoes, I only managed to grab the travel version, but I might go for the full size product when this gem is all used up.
Benefit High Beam
I'll be the first to admit it, highlighters have never been my thing. I always decided that it looked blatantly obvious on myself, until I picked up High Beam. It is such a lovely highlighter, shimmery but without being too obvious and "in-your-face". Perfect for summer days spent outside.
Maybelline Dream Matte Powder
A complete life saver in the summer! My particular needs from a powder are simple, I just need it to cover up any shininess resulting from my tinted moisturizer, and this one does the job. The only irritating thing about it is the weird swivel packaging, but I'm able to make due. This month I actually hit pan, and while I'll be trying out a new powder next month, this is one I definitely know I'll be able to come back to. It touches up perfectly, and never looks cakey on my face, no matter how many times I run my brush over the product and onto my face.
Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Pink Pop
I believe Meganheartsmakeup on YouTube recommended this in one of her favorites videos, and boy, am I glad I took note to go buy it. It appears to be hot pink in the tube, but when applied, it turns into this glossy, sheer wash of bright pink, and looks great with my fair skintone. It's long wearing, even between a few sips of tea, and the packaging is my favorite drugstore packaging, by far. Not plastered with labels or tacky coloured plastic. I know I'll be able to make this transition into fall well.
Gaming
Nintendo Power: August 2012
Okay, it's a magazine, I know. But the last time I actually read Nintendo Power was probably in Grade 7. I became more of a Game Informer fan, and when that tapered off, I just paid attention to video game blogs. When I couldn't find the time to keep myself updated on games, I just didn't bother to stay interested on what was going on in the gaming world at all. When I picked up Nintendo Power on a whim, knowing that soon, Nintendo would stop publishing it, I instantly felt 10 again. The in-depth reviews, sneak peeks of upcoming games, and constant references to Zelda and Mario made me feel like I was just picking up my Game Boy for the first time. I wish I had spent more time with it, considering it is now coming to an end.
Television
Supernatural: Season 6
This show has actually drained way too many hours of my life. And I'm not even mad about it. What I'm mad about is waiting until September for the DVD release of the seventh season. I love you, Sam.
Music
Fun.
This was, hands down, the easiest favourite to come up with this month, considering I saw them live and Nate couldn't stop smiling and my singing friend and I. Their music truly is incredible. Carry On, I'm not as Sad, and Some Nights are the only songs that could have gotten me few those last weeks of summer school and the last weeks of summer.
Until next time,
Sydney
