shopping - Broadway Nails imPRESS Press-on Manicure

Image
Hi ladies! Influenster has sent me VoxBoxes in the past, as you may have read on my blog before. When I got an email about an ImPress Manicure box, I was completely stoked. Influenster sent me some ImPress Nails in the first Canadian VoxBox, and I raved about them, and I'm happy to say that I've been sent more to review, and my opinions on them haven't changed. I received two lovely colours/designs from Influenster, 130 Control Freak and D030 Holla! (yes, actually, what a hilarious name!) The first being a bright, shiny pink, the second being a pale pink with what looks like a lace overlay design. In my post about the Canadian VoxBox, I mentioned that these were really easy to apply, and stayed on for a good amount of time, and though I've only tried one set out of this box, that remains the same. I'll keep my review short and sweet, with a list of my pros and cons for Broadway Nails ImPress Press-On Manicures PROS: Fast and Easy to use  - No dry time, ...

shopping - April Ipsy 2014

Image
Ipsy has definitely lost it's appeal with me. Maybe I'm too picky, but I think the general idea of subscription boxes has worn off. It's fun to get things in the mail every month, but I'd rather have more control over where my money is going, instead of paying for the unknown. Ipsy has resulted in some great deals over the year and a half I've had it (I've had it since it was available in Canada), but I do have to admit that I cancelled after receiving this bag. I think the bag is super cute, it's a little silly but it'll look good in a weekender bag. My first impression upon opening this bag was "meh". Nothing stuck me as super exciting. BUT before you hear my final opinion and explanation, let's look into the bag. marykayatplay Jelly Lip Gloss in Berry Me - $10 - Full Size I've recently discovered that I'm not a lip gloss person. Lip gloss makes me crazy. It sticks to my face, sticks to my hair, boys don't want to...

Friday Night Nails - Birthday Cake

Image
Hey ladies, My 19th birthday is approaching, and since it'll be here within a month, all I've been thinking about is planning the party. A whole weekend with my friends is exactly what I need and my 19th is the perfect time to get everyone together. I was searching the clearance section of Shoppers the other day, and found a gem by Nails Inc. "Topping Lane", a Special Effects polish from their Sprinkles collect ion. Sephora describes it as " An innovative nail formula that imparts a cupcake-topping effect." and I was thrilled to find it for $2.88, instead of the regular $11.50.   The cupcake immediately reminded me of birthday cake and I grabbed it right away. Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Bubblegum Pink, Nails Inc Special Effects in Topping Lane, Essie's Good to Go topcoat and Essie's First Base base coat.  I took this picture after about 3 days of wear, there was minor chipping on one of my fingers and my thumb, but I always find that ...

sydney, shopping - Summer Prep (Skincare)

Image
With me, there's no Spring, only Summer. The second the sun comes out, I'm convinced that I belong on the beach and my coats are put away until October, which generally isn't a good idea considering Vancouver is super random when it comes to weather. With the weather looking up out here, I've already started pulling out my summer essentials and scoping the drugstore for everything new that can be put into my summer routine. I'm taking the summer off from school to work (and travel, and go to concerts, and mellow out...) so I'm looking forward to busy days and calm, warm nights. Or crazy, wild nights. My beauty routine breaks down into 3 categories this summer: Skincare (including body), makeup, and haircare. I'll be talking about skincare in this first post, and I'll follow up later with my two other categories of favourites. I might add some other suggestions as well, such as music and my own personal plans for the coming summer. Skincare  ...

shopping - Mystery Brand VoxBox

Image
Some of you may remember my last post, about my first ever VoxBox from Influenster, and how thrilled I was with it. Luckily, I recently received a new one and the concept of this one is awesome.  First, Influenster sent out samples of a new L'oreal product, and asked us to try to figure out what the new product was. We could go ahead and use it, try to guess, and then in the coming weeks, we would receive the full size products from the new line.  I thought I would write up a post reviewing the products really quick, before the Mystery Brand was disclosed, because I have a pretty good guess! The first box we received! Split-End Serum: I have been using another serum from another brand for many years now, and since I just got a haircut, this product came in at the perfect time. The smell is the same as the shampoo and conditioner, fruity but not overpowering, and it left my ends smooth and shiny once my hair dried. Shampoo: This shampoo lathered up in m...
