Friday Night Nails - Birthday Cake

Hey ladies,

My 19th birthday is approaching, and since it'll be here within a month, all I've been thinking about is planning the party. A whole weekend with my friends is exactly what I need and my 19th is the perfect time to get everyone together.

I was searching the clearance section of Shoppers the other day, and found a gem by Nails Inc. "Topping Lane", a Special Effects polish from their Sprinkles collection. Sephora describes it as "An innovative nail formula that imparts a cupcake-topping effect." and I was thrilled to find it for $2.88, instead of the regular $11.50. The cupcake immediately reminded me of birthday cake and I grabbed it right away.

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Bubblegum Pink, Nails Inc Special Effects in Topping Lane, Essie's Good to Go topcoat and Essie's First Base base coat.

I took this picture after about 3 days of wear, there was minor chipping on one of my fingers and my thumb, but I always find that with glitter polishes, I'm more prone to chipping. I wouldn't purchase this polish at full price, and I believe these are being discontinued so now would be a good time to grab them on sale when you find them. The glitter mix of purple, hot pink, light blue, and silver is so fun. It was easy to remove (well, easier than your average glitter) with acetone, but with chipping, I only left it on for around 4 days, a couple days short of the regular 6 days I keep a manicure for. The small round glitters definitely remind me of cupcake toppings.

I also think that next time, I won't layer another coat of glitter over the first. The sheer pink colour in the glitter polish makes the glitter in the first coat look a little murky, so I'll skip that.

I hope you guys have a lovely weekend! It's beautiful outside here right now so I hope that's the same for you.
