shopping - Ipsy September 2013!
I usually feel like I'm waiting for my Ipsy forever, right from when I find out what's going to be in it, right up until the tracking service says its been delivered. This month I've been so busy, that I almost forgot to check the sneak peeks! Overall, my bag was worth waiting for.
Cailyn Cosmetics Tinted Lip Balm in Big Apple - Full Size: $19
This isn't the first time I've seen Cailyn in my Ipsy bag. I received a purple eyeliner from the brand a couple of bags ago, and I haven't found myself using it since. I heard tons of good things about this product, and can see why. It's completely pigmented, and the included brush is excellent for travel with it. I didn't expect the red colour to be so matte and buildable, but I only have one problem with it. It's not moisturizing. At all. It feels like it shriveled up on my lips as soon as I got it on. A great pigmented lip colour? Yes. A lip balm? No. Make sure to wear Chapstick under this one.
This is the product I was most excited to get when I looked at my Glam Room. I've been trying to find sheet masks everywhere! I was happy when I thought I'd be getting one to try, I didn't know I'd be getting three! I've had luck with Freeman masks in the past, and I'm sure these will be no exception.
I like NYX, but their eyeshadows are hit or miss, and this one fits the "miss" category. I'm not one for dark eyeshadows, and that's what I got. When swatched, I wasn't impressed. It's not buildable, just poorly pigmented and unsuitable for me.
I've still got the mascara from last month sitting in my "unopened" drawer, and that's where this one is going as well. I'm kind of tired of the mascara samples from Ipsy, because they're never anything excellent (from what I've heard, I haven't opened either yet.) The only spectacular one they've sent me is the Benefit "They're Real." I don't burn through mascara once a month, and I've got enough stock to last me the next year, so I hope these samples subside.
I hate to sound like a whiny baby, but I'm ALSO tired of eyeliner. I hate black kohl eyeliners. I only ever use liquid on my top lid, black kohl looks too harsh on my pale skin and light eyes. And before I received my bag, all the reviews I read said that this was a fabulous eyeliner. I have to disagree. Swatching it, I felt it was too stiff, and had a hard time getting a dark black on my skin, so forget about using this on my eyes. I literally haven't touched pencil eyeliner in years, and that includes my Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliners, and I agree with the public on how excellent those are.
My entire bag was worth: $51.95. I can't say it was one I was over the moon about, but I'm really happy that I got the sheet masks and the lip gloss. As usual, I can't wait to see what next month brings us! I wouldn't mind an eyeliner pen or a matte bronzer.
