shopping - August Empties! 2013

Good morning ladies!

I just discovered the Blogger app so I'm writing this as I wait for my bus, which is cool and productive. I'm not totally satisfied with my amount of empties, but I just didn't find myself using a lot of products in general this month, so that explains it.

Simple makeup removing wipes: These are excellent. I didn't believe the hype on YouTube, but I got these in a teen value pack with some other items and I'm so satisfied. They are a little pricey, I actually purchased another value pack just to get the wiped and justify the price. They can be a little dry, so I store them upside down, but the wipes are thick.

Truly nail polish remover: I was so tired of this stuff at the end of it. It didn't do a good job, I found myself having to use 3 or 4 cotton balls for both my hands. I switched to 100% acetone remover and though its drying, it works like magic.

Bath and Body Works Select a Shimmer in Carried Away: I remember getting this at a semi annual sale, and being interested in the packaging. The product included lotion on one side, and shimmer on the other, with a dial that could be turned to more shimmer, less shimmer, more lotion, less lotion, etc. When I pulled it out to use it up, I questioned why I would ever want a shimmery body lotion. But, lucky for me, the shimmer side just stopped dispensing. I used up all the lotion, but the shimmer is going in the trash. I didn't mind the scent, but nothing special.

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB cream: I had to get in on the BB cream trend somehow, and this was it. I don't think BB creams do anything amazing in general, they're no different than a tinted moisturizer. This one was a little on the greasy side, even for my dry skin, and left me a little orange when this is the lightest shade. I liked the consistency and texture, but...

Juice Beauty refreshing mist: How I finished this, I'm not even sure. I got this in an Ipsy bag, and all of my friends who got it, hated it. I know a friend who just threw it away. It was sitting in my drawer and I thought "How the hell am I going to use this up?" I began using it as a toner, as suggested on the packaging, and it worked okay. It still smelled like rotting fruit, but at least it spared my favorite toner and I got my money's worth. I wouldn't repurchase, but if any of you girls don't know what to do with yours either, spray it in a cotton pad and use it as toner!

Katy Perry Meow perfume: This was a very sweet scent, and the bottle was what drew me in. The lasting power wasn't idea, and I don't think it's worth the money. Basically, just nothing special, so pass on this one. I can't even explain it well, it was just so "blah".

LA Fresh Travel-Lite makeup removing wipes: These were also included in the worst Ipsy bag of all time. It came with 8 wipes, and they were excruciating to use. Well, maybe that's an exaggeration, but they sucked. They were thin with very little product, even when stored upside down, and I found myself tugging at my eyes to remove makeup.

Cotton Balls: So simple, but so useful. I only use them for my nails, but it'd be hard to do my nails without them. This dollar store kind isn't suitable for my face, but that's okay because I've come to prefer cotton pads for my face anyways.

Benefit's "They're Real!" Mascara: Darn this mascara! This dumb, perfect, expensive, easily-drys-out mascara! I love this mascara, as I've mentioned before, but it's only good for a total of 3 weeks. If that. I've noticed the full version that comes with the travel version at work, so I MIGHT treat myself, but how easily it drys out and flakes away is not cool. Though, it is an excellent mascara for when it hasn't dried.

POP Beauty Smokey Lash Kapow! Mascara: Do not buy this. I got this in an Ipsy bag as well, and it just didn't do anything. It hasn't even dried out yet, I just had to throw it away because I knew I wasn't using it. The brush is simple, and reminds me of the Maybelline Great Lash mascara, which I didn't get along with. It's very black but dealing with the brush and the clumpiness of the product is just not worth it. If anything, with enough time, it might work well for a "natural" look, but I never go for natural mascara, because my eyelashes are blonde anyways, black doesn't look natural on me to begin with.

Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturizer: This moisturizer is perfect for my skin. My skin is dry, but I hate heavy, oily creams that leave my face greasy in the morning. It's as if my skin rejects those kind of creams because it doesn't want them either. I've used this for about 5 years now, and it's never broken me out or irritated my skin in any way. It's affordable and I feel like it has a cooling effect as well. It's light but gets the job done, my list could go on and on.

I know, I know, not to many things this month! I'm working on it!

Though I have noticed a major increase in traffic to my blog, so I wanted to say thank you to anybody subscribed, here or on Bloglovin', or even if you've stopped by to read some of my ramblings. I really do love blogging, and I'm overjoyed that so many other people have read my posts. So thank you! :)
