shopping - Canadas first Influenster Vox Box!
Hi ladies!
I have some extremely exciting news to share with you! Influenster has now brought their famous Vox Boxes to Canada, and I was kindly sent one to show you.
I signed up with Influenster under the impression that they already shipped to Canada, so I was thrilled when I got the email asking for me to complete a survey to see if I qualify. The idea of Influenster is simple, using the power of social media and word of mouth, products are sent out to review, and they even have a collection of products on their site that are available for review, including videos games, and rarely do I see collective video game reviews from consumers.
The more you participate and let others know what you like, the higher chance you have of receiving your own Vox Box. Filled with new products surrounding a theme, these boxes arrive free of charge on the condition that the recipient lets the world know their thoughts on the products. Now that it's in Canada, I'll have to do a better job of reviewing products found in my Vox Box and more, and I can't wait to do so.
The Maple Vox Box!
Ice Breakers DUO - $1.99
"New Ice Breakers DUO combines sweet fruity taste with refreshing cooling crystals. Ice Breakers DUO is a two sided mint with a fruity flavoured, textured side and a minty smooth side that cools and freshens your breath. Avaliable in strawberry and raspberry."
As soon as I broke this box open, I HAD to have one of these. I remember when these came out and you were the coolest if you had them. I love how the mint isn't too harsh, but it works, The textured side is nice for really getting into the grooves of the tongue to wipe out bad breath.
Skinny Cow Milk Chocolate Flavour Heavenly Crisp - $1.29
"Skinny Cow Heavenly Crisp bars bring you layers of wafer with delicious chocolate creme flavour covered in a milk chocolatey coating. At 100 calories per 19g bar, say yes to delicious!"
I've always been hesitant of foods that boast low calories, or hope to be accepted as "diet" treats. The idea that this is "milk chocolate flavour" worries me, and when I was losing weight, if I wanted a treat, I just went for the real version, and it didn't hold me back in my progress. Though I did try this, and it was nice, but I noticed sugar as the very first ingredient. I'm not a crazy nutrition freak but I am interested in the subject and I think that better alternatives to Skinny Cow can be used for a person trying to maintain their weight, or lose weight. It's a good tasting treat though, it's very light and didn't make me feel gross afterwards.
Skinny Cow Milk Chocolate Dreamy Clusters - $1.29
"These bite sized crunchy crisps and creamy caramel drenched in milk chocolate are only 120 calories per 28g pouch. With Skinny Cow Dreamy Clusters, you can say yes to delicious!"
These tasted like fresh baked cookies, like when the cookie is still a little bit doughy. I really liked them, but was sure to check the ingredients to find trans fat in this product, which was disappointing. I think that Skinny Cow is a better alternative to chocolate bars, but as I mentioned above, there are still better nutritional treats out there for somebody looking to maintain or lose weight.
Broadway Nails imPRESS Press-On Manicure - $8.99-$10.99
"imPRESS Press-On Manicure by Broadway Nails is the revolutionary way to apply polish! Get a salon-perfect manicure in seconds - simply peel off, press on and you're done (NO glue needed!). There's no drying, a killer shine and a manicure that lasts up to a week! Available at Wal Mart."
Broadway Nails has figured out how to actually make press on nails work! I didn't have high hopes for the long wear of these nails, and I was keeping a close watch on them the first day to see which nail would fall off first. It's been 5 days already and these nails are holding up well. I know I'll be on the lookout for these after my current pair have finished their wear. The one thing they forgot to mention on the packaging was to cut your natural nails the shortest they can be, I didn't do this step (and for what reason, I have no idea) and I can see some of my natural nails right under these tips. It's not a big problem, but one that can be avoided. (Edit: one of these popped off shortly after writing this post, but I just picked another nail from the leftovers in the pack, and I replaced it.)
NYC New York Color Big Bold Curl Mascara - $4.99
"Big Bold Curl Mascara's oversized curved brush is the ultimate way to get outrageously thick and super sexy lashes. One stroke gives your lashes up to 12x more volume and 99% more lift."
I've never tried an NYC mascara before, and this one was a great first experience, the brush is huge, and it grabbed every lash. I can't say much for any major differences I noticed in curl, because I always curl my lashes anyways and my lashes are pretty good at holding a curl in general. The price is great, I rarely find myself buying expensive mascaras because they only dry out, and this one is a good alternative for those on a budget, and who want something that really works. It was also easy to remove, and that's something that's important to me when choosing a mascara.
NYC New York Color Big Bold Plumping Gloss in Big City Blush - $4.99
"Big Bold Plumping Lip Gloss makes lips look up to 50% fuller with a high gloss shine that lasts up to 4 hours. The ultra-soft, mega applicator gives full and even coverage for beautiful, perfectly plump lips."
I remember buying NYC lip glosses when I first began using makeup, and my friends and I were obsessed. This gloss has an enormous wand, big enough that one swipe over each lip is enough product, and the plumping sensation doesn't burn. I was nervous about the colour, because light pink doesn't suit me, but this colour enhances my natural lip colour, and I really liked that It's perfect for a low key day out, or when paired with a lipstick, a night out with friends.
Montagne Jeunesse Clay Spas in Red Earth - $2.49
"Join the Revolution and start a new weekly skincare regime with the Clay Spas from Montagne Jeunesse. These natural bamboo fabric masks are infused with clay for a cleansing experience that is better, quicker and easier than ever before."
I love using masks in the bath, though I find that every time I've used a mask from Montagne Jeunesse, It's pretty messy only because of the foil packaging. I'm glad they've caught onto the paper mask craze, because this mask left my skin super smooth and hydrated, without the mess.
I received all of these products complimentary from Influenster, to try out and to share with you, and I'm so happy to. The only things I'd pass on during my next time shopping, are the Skinny Cow chocolate bars, but I'm probably one of the few who would.
Thanks for reading, and I'll talk to you guys soon!
Sydney :)
